Manor Park care home is pleased to invite local residents, carers, and anyone interested in learning more about dementia care to a free Dementia Care Workshop at Manor Park on Town Street, Old Malton on Tuesday 19th May from 10am.
As part of Dementia Action Week, the welcoming and informative session will provide valuable insights and practical support for those caring for loved ones living with dementia. The workshop will cover a range of important topics, including:
- Effective communication techniques
- Understanding behaviours linked to dementia
- Creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment
The interactive session will give attendees the opportunity to hear from experienced professionals, gain practical advice, ask questions, and connect with others who may be navigating similar experiences. Whether you are currently caring for someone, work in care, or simply want to learn more about dementia, the workshop is designed to help build confidence and understanding in a supportive community setting.

Representatives from the local police team will also be attending to explain the Herbert Protocol, a national scheme designed to help support people living with dementia who may go missing, as well as discussing the support available within the local community.
Ryedale Sight Support will also be at the event to talk about changes in sight experienced by people living with dementia. Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in an interactive experience designed to help people better understand how dementia can affect vision and perception.
