A NORTH Yorkshire pub is under new ownership.

Steve and Sharon Padfield, who took over The Ganton Greyhound in 2019, have handed over the pub due to retirement.

A post on social media said: "Well …. That’s all folks. … we have just pulled our last pint as custodians of The Ganton Greyhound- and what a privilege it has been.

"There are so many people to thank who have helped , supported and encouraged us on our way. Please forgive us for not mentioning you all - but you know who you are. Not least our four amazing children and their partners, our parents , and dear friends- but some, we feel, should have special recognition-

"Nick Blanchard - thank you so much. Without your level headed council and realisation that ‘it could work’ I would never have taken the plunge!

"All the amazing young people who have worked with us and then gone on to Uni, sports echelons or wedded bliss - thank you.

"And a massive Thank You to Andrew & Tracy - two of the kindest, gentlest, most reliable and loyal people we have had the pleasure to know.

"This is the end of an era for us but the beginning for the lovely new owners, Stephen & Helen and Dale & Jodie - we wish you every continued success and look forward to see how you grow The Ganton Greyhound.

"All of our best wishes, Sharon & Steve xxx."
