A quirky competition featuring black pudding throwing and rapid-fire Yorkshire pudding eating has returned to York.
The Yorkshire Olympics, organised by the Northern Society at York Students’ Union and held at Fulfordgate Working Men's Club on Wednesday, April 22, invites teams of two to four students to compete in unusual, Yorkshire-inspired challenges.
Events included a “how many Yorkshire puddings can you eat in one minute?” contest, a Northern-themed karaoke round, and the ever-popular black pudding toss.
The fun-focused evening was all about celebrating Northern humour and community.
Lucy, the event organiser, said: "We wanted to host it at the working men's club for the stage and because it's a proper classic northern venue, it reminds us of having pie 'n' peas at good old northern family functions."
Teams will earn points across 4-5 rounds, with prizes awarded at the end of the night.
The organisers hope to see a good mix of residents and students getting involved, emphasising the inclusive, community-driven spirit of the revived tradition.
