A new event is aiming to put Yorkshire’s next generation of screen talent in the spotlight.

The new one-day networking and training event, Coast to Credits, is designed for emerging filmmakers and freelancers aged 16 to 30, and will take place at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre on April 25.

The event is free to attend, with travel support available for young people living in Yorkshire, and aims to improve access and career pathways in the region's film and television sector.

Zoe Naylor, partner at Reel Solutions, said: "We want talented young people in our region to understand that they no longer need to leave the North to build a successful career in film and TV.

"Coast to Credits is about removing the gatekeeping.

"We want to give young creatives and freelancers direct, practical information and access to the people who are shaping the industry right now, right here in Yorkshire."

The event is a collaboration between Scarborough Film Festival, Reel Solutions, Screen Yorkshire, INDIs on Tour, and Film Hub North.

It will feature a full day of talks, mentoring, and networking opportunities, with attendees also able to book micro-mentoring sessions with speakers.

Confirmed speakers include BAFTA-winning drama director Jordan Hogg, Beatrice Neumann of Screen Yorkshire, and James Pierechod from Leeds-based Tungsten Media.

Panels will address contemporary industry topics such as the sustainable use of AI in filmmaking, the implementation of environmental and wellbeing riders on set, and a ‘nuts and bolts’ toolkit for surviving and thriving as a creative freelancer.

The programme will conclude with two public short film showcases: the BFI Film Academy Micro Short Film Fund & Northern Exposure Showcase, and Leeds Young Film's INDIs on Tour Short Film Showcase.

Limited free tickets are available through the Coast to Credits website or the Stephen Joseph Theatre box office.
