A newborn care project is one step closer to becoming a reality thanks to the support of a community group.
The Ryedale Lions have funded a Sleeper Chair for York Hospital’s new neonatal unit through the Tiny Lives Matter project, which aims to raise £100,000 for additional equipment and furnishings to improve comfort for families.
Stephen Knight, president of Ryedale Lions, said: "The Trust and the unit cover a large part of North Yorkshire, with approaching 400 babies a year benefiting from the facility; we are delighted to be able to help and continue our supportive relationship."
Emma Sargent, fundraising manager for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, added: "We are incredibly grateful to the Ryedale Lions for their generous support of the Tiny Lives Appeal.
"This contribution will make an enormous difference to families across Ryedale and the surrounding area, helping us transform the Neonatal Unit into a calm and comforting space for families during what can be an extremely challenging time."
