The former HSBC building in Whitby is being transformed into a bar and restaurant which will be called The Treasury Whitby.
Skilled local contractors are working to restore the iconic Grade II listed building in Baxtergate which will open this summer.
Neil Harrison of BHD Design, whose architectural expertise has ensured that the building’s heritage is protected while allowing it to evolve into a contemporary hospitality destination, said blending heritage with modern luxury is no small task.
He said: "Every element of the project requires careful planning, specialist knowledge, and a deep respect for the building’s history. At the heart of this transformation is a team of dedicated local tradespeople whose craftsmanship is helping to sympathetically restore the building while meeting strict conservation requirements.
"Restoring a building of this significance demands more than standard construction work. It requires a sensitive approach: preserving original features wherever possible, repairing rather than replacing, and ensuring that any new additions sit seamlessly alongside the historic fabric of the building.
The team are proud to work alongside a number of trusted local suppliers who are playing a key role in bringing The Treasury Whitby to life, including Matthew Robinson (Plumbing), RS Builders, LTC Electrical, Andy Anderson (Decorator) and a host of volunteers.
