A former England rugby international has inspired pupils during a special coaching visit to a school.
Ben Foden, who earned 34 caps for England and played in the 2011 Rugby World Cup, spent time with children at Snainton Church of England School, sharing insights from his career and delivering hands-on coaching sessions.
Mr Davies, headteacher at the school, said: "The impact has been fantastic to see.
"It’s been a real privilege to welcome someone of Ben’s calibre to our village.
"The children have heard about his career and the challenges and benefits of playing sport at a high level, had the opportunity to ask lots of questions, and – of course – benefitted from Ben's coaching skills.
"We’ve had an incredible time – and as teachers, we could really see the children’s enjoyment and pride developing over the course of the sessions."
Foden’s visit was made possible through a partnership with Scarborough College.
Mr Davies said: "The visit was made possible through a partnership with Scarborough College, and we were very keen to take up this opportunity.
"Experiences like this make a tremendous difference.
"All the children threw themselves into the activities and showed great resilience learning new skills."
The sessions sparked fresh enthusiasm for rugby among pupils, with several expressing a keen interest in developing their skills further.
Parents are being encouraged to help children explore opportunities at Scarborough Rugby Club, including details of training sessions and membership opportunities.
Foden, who played club rugby for Northampton Saints, also took time to answer pupils’ questions.
His visit left a lasting impression on students and teachers.
