A CARE home is hosting a free event to help people better understand and support those living with dementia.
Barchester’s Rivermead Care Home on Scarborough Road in Norton will hold a talk titled 'Communicating positively with someone living with Dementia' at 2.30pm on Wednesday, March 25.
The session is designed to offer practical guidance, raise awareness, and help people feel more confident communicating with loved ones affected by the condition.
Chloe Baron, acting general manager at Rivermead, said: "We want to help and support relatives, friends and members of our local community who have loved ones who are living with dementia.
"We are inviting everyone to come along and listen to our talk to raise awareness of the condition and to help give people some information and coping strategies.
The session will cover a range of topics, including how to spot the first signs of dementia, how to get a diagnosis, how to look after your loved one living with dementia, and how to fund care.
Attendees will also learn about day-to-day communication techniques and how to create a supportive environment for individuals living with dementia.
The talk will be delivered by staff who are specially trained in dementia care from Rivermead Care Home with guest speaker, Dr Raj from the home’s local NHS team.
There will also be opportunities for attendees to ask questions during and after the session.
