GOOLE is set to shine as it marks a major milestone.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is organising Shine On Goole as part of the town’s 200th birthday year.

On March 19 and 20, St John’s Parish Church will be transformed into a stunning "ship of stories" through a six-minute visual show.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure, and tourism, said: "Shine On Goole is the first of a series of events organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to mark the town’s 200th birthday year.

"We’re delighted to be bringing some highly renowned visual art and theatre to Goole and this event promises to be a wonderful spectacle for local families to enjoy."

Titled A Port In Green Fields, the music-led projection is billed as a ‘collage of archive, illustration and light’, taking audiences on a voyage through 200 years of history.

Each minute-long chapter will illuminate key eras, from the town’s marshland origins to its development as an industrial hub.

The show will run on a continuous loop from 6.30pm to 8.30pm to maximise access.

Elsewhere, visitors can experience And… Breathe, an interactive light and sound sculpture on Boothferry Road, and Spark, a street theatre performance combining illuminated drumming and movement.
