The internationally acclaimed Takács Quartet will launch the 2026 Ryedale Festival with a special performance in Yorkshire.

The concert will take place on March 27 at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Pickering.

Christopher Glynn, artistic director of the Ryedale Festival, said: "I’m thrilled to launch the 2026 Festival with these wonderful musicians.

"With years of shared music-making behind them, they bring a depth of insight and humanity that makes every performance a very special occasion.

"I hope audiences will join us to enjoy the concert and discover what’s to come in the summer Festival."

The Takács Quartet, widely regarded as one of the finest quartets of their time, will perform a programme featuring Haydn's Rider Quartet, Beethoven's Harp Quartet, and Debussy’s Quartet in G minor.

Edward Dusinberre, the quartet’s first violinist, will also take part in a pre-concert conversation, offering insights into the music and the ensemble’s work.

The event marks the official launch of the Festival’s 2026 programme, with the 2026 Ryedale Festival running from July 10 to 26.

The full programme for the summer festival will be announced following the concert.

Tickets for the season launch concert are on sale now, with further details available at www.ryedalefestival.com.
