An evening of live orchestral music is set to take place in Scarborough next month.

The Scarborough Symphony Orchestra will perform at Queen Street Methodist Hall on Saturday, February 7, at 7.15pm.

The concert will feature works by Joseph Bologne, Mozart, Ottorino Respighi, and Johannes Brahms and will explore music from the Renaissance to the Romantic era.

Shaun Matthew, musical director of the Scarborough Symphony Orchestra, said: "This programme celebrates the richness of our musical heritage – from Renaissance dance tunes and Classical brilliance to Brahms' majestic Romantic creativity.

"Featuring the wonderful Esther Williams, this concert promises to be an inspiring evening full of energy, colour, and unforgettable performances."

The programme will open with Joseph Bologne's Symphony in G, Op. 11 No. 1, followed by Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C, performed by guest soloist Esther Williams.

Also included in the programme is Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 2, and the evening will conclude with Brahms’ Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel.

Tickets are available from the orchestra’s website at www.scarborough-orchestra.org, AJ Streffords at 36 Huntriss Row, Scarborough, or at the door on the night from 6.15pm.
