TWO well-known advocates of women's health are taking part in an evening of conversation to discuss their new book.

Kemps Bookstore in Malton are delighted to welcome Mariella Frostrup and Belles Berry to the town's Wesley Centre to talk about Menoclicious: Eat Your Way to a Better Menopause.

Mariella is a journalist, broadcaster, and campaigner for menopause awareness.

She has been at the forefront of cultural life for four decades, interviewing an array of people, from politicians to celebrities, and contributing to arts and literature, while also advocating for gender and social issues.

Mariella is a vocal women’s rights campaigner, and her 2018 documentary on the menopause helped stimulate a national discourse on the topic.

Since then, she has co-founded and is the chair of the campaign group ‘Menopause Mandate,’ which comprises a diverse range of motivated women sharing a common interest in perimenopause and menopause.

The group includes celebrities, such as Davina McCall and Carol Vorderman, menopause experts, journalists, politicians, and campaigners with the ultimate goal of revolutionising support and advice for women.

Belles is a chef, food entrepreneur, and founder of ‘The Great Taste Company.’

Daughter of renowned chef and television presenter Dame Mary Berry, Belles is an accomplished chef in her own right.

Immersed in food from an early age and working in the food industry for over thirty years, she has travelled the world learning about foods from different cultures, particularly focusing on nutrition, energy, and gut health.

After her own experiences, Belles was inspired to use her culinary talents to help women with menopausal symptoms.

Both passionate about food and women’s health, they have teamed up to co-author a book that serves up over 100 quick and delicious recipes to ease perimenopause and menopause symptoms, balance hormones, and overall nourish the body and mind.

The book has been praised and endorsed by many famous faces, such as Davina McCall, who said it contains ‘magnificent menus for midlife and beyond’ and Cate Blanchett, who said the book is full of ‘delicious, fast, and fortifying recipes to power you through midlife.’

Coinciding with Menopause Awareness Month, this event will provide expert insights, generate important conversations, and be a celebration of food as a remedy. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions and get your cookbooks signed.

Liz Kemp, owner of Kemps, said: ‘I am so delighted that Belles and Mariella have agreed to come to Malton and talk food, flavour, and thriving through midlife, during October, which is Menopause Awareness month. Their book Meonolicious is fabulous and full of recipes which are delicious for anyone at any time of life. We hope people support us and attend the event so we can continue to attract interesting and high-profile guests to our doorstep."

Join Mariella and Belles at the Wesley Centre in Saville Street, Malton, on October 28 at 7.30 pm. Doors and bar open at 7pm.
