Residents of Old Malton and the surrounding area are being invited to step inside the town’s newest care home as Manor Park hosts a special Open Day on Tuesday 7 October from 10.30am.

The multi-million development, which is preparing to welcome its first residents this autumn, will open its doors to the public for guided tours, staff introductions and information sessions.

The home, run by Sandstone Care Group in partnership with the Octopus Healthcare Fund, boasts 80 en-suite bedrooms alongside a range of modern amenities, including a cinema, café bar, hair and beauty salon, and landscaped gardens. It will provide both residential and dementia care.

A spokesperson for Sandstone Care said the Open Day was an important chance for the community to see what has been created in Old Malton. “We know choosing a care home is a big decision, both for individuals and their families. This event gives people the opportunity to look around, meet the team, and get a real feel for what life at Manor Park will be like,” they said.

The Open Day will include tours of sample bedrooms and communal areas, as well as information about the activities programme, menus and wellbeing support on offer. Staff will also be on hand to answer questions about the care provided.

As well as providing new care facilities for the region, Manor Park is set to bring nearly 100 jobs to the area, from nursing and care roles to hospitality and maintenance. Recruitment days have already attracted strong interest from local applicants.

The home has also begun reaching out to local families and professionals through initiatives such as dementia care workshops, which have provided advice and support to carers ahead of the official opening.

Manor Park’s design reflects a growing focus in the care sector on combining high standards of clinical care with comfortable, homely surroundings. Features such as a traditional tearoom, club lounge and dedicated activity spaces are intended to help residents maintain independence, pursue hobbies and socialise.

The management team hopes the Open Day will help build connections before residents move in.

“This is more than just a building – it’s a community hub,” the spokesperson added. “We want local people to feel welcome here, whether they are enquiring for a loved one, considering a career in care, or simply curious about the new facilities.”

The Manor Park Open Day takes place on Tuesday 7 October from 10.30am. While visitors can drop in on the day, organisers recommend registering in advance to help with tour planning.
