Let’s Dance is an initiative spearheaded by former Strictly Come Dancing star and broadcaster Angela Rippon to encourage the nation to dance – and it’s coming to the Milton Rooms at the beginning of next month.

Malton’s Kirkham Henry Performing Arts have booked the venue on Sunday, March 2 to showcase their community adult classes.

Admission is free and the hope is that people will come and see demonstrations of each class, join in if they want to and be inspired to take up dance as a way of improving their health and wellbeing. The event runs from 1pm to 5.30pm – see themiltonrooms.com/whats-on/ for more details.

And further ahead, tickets are selling quickly for a visit to the Milton Rooms by the hugely-popular writer and broadcaster the Rev Richard Coles on June 6. The event is part of Kemps Bookshops Literary Events and he is promoting the latest book of his bestselling Canon Clement series. More information at themiltonroom.com/whats-on

This month the beat turns tropical on the 8th with York Latinos and a night of Cuban music and dance. Oh, and don’t forget Megaslam Wrestling on the 19th.

Ryedale Blues Club has the first of its line-up for 2025 with the Big Wolf Band on the 27th and the following evening the Hilarity Bites Comedy Club is back with Howard Walker, Al Stevenson and host Catherine Young.

Friday, March 7: Greg Brice. Back when Greg Brice played the pubs, clubs and bars of the West Midlands, he’d often find some of the toughest audiences you could imagine hanging on to his every word within a few bars.
