Students and staff at Malton School have been celebrating another good set of GCSE results.

The following headline percentages from all students entered:

• 70% achieved at least a Level 4 or above in both English and Maths;

• 61% achieved Level 4 or above in 5 or more subjects, including both English and Maths;

• 98.7% of students will have certificates to show they gained 5 or more GCSEs (Grades 9-1).

74% of all GCSE grades achieved were at Level 4 or above.

All of the students can be very proud of what they have achieved under the difficult circumstances they have faced during their secondary journey.

The top performers were:

Megan Mills who gained an incredible eight GCSEs all at Level 9 and one more at Level 8.

Isaac England achieved an amazing six GCSEs at Level 9, along with three more at Level 8 and a Level 7.

Two students achieved a fantastic 5 GCSEs at Level 9: these were Ben Cartman who also achieved one Level 8, and two Level 7’s; and Ellie Johnson who also achieved two Level 8’s.

Three students achieved 4 GCSEs at Level 9: these were Scarlett Grainger who also achieved three more at Level 8 and two Level 7’s; Darcy Riley who achieved three more at Level 8 and one at Level 7; and Daisy Huntriss who achieved two more at Level 8 and another two at Level 7.

Apart from these seven, there were another 18 students who gained at least one Level 9.

Headteacher, Rob Williams, said: “This cohort of young people have shown great resilience to go on and achieve these strong outcomes. They should be very proud of what they have done. I want to praise them and wish them all the best for the future, and also recognise the hard work and dedication of the staff team in supporting them to achieve this success.”
