Students, parents and staff at Malton Sixth Form have been celebrating another set of strong results.
Staff said it has been very pleasing to see the vast majority of students successfully achieving what they needed to move on to their desired next career step. In many cases this is a move on to University but there are good numbers securing apprenticeships, employment or opting to take a gap year.
Headteacher, Rob Williams, said: “These students have faced a heightened level of adversity with both their GCSE and Sixth Form courses impacted in different ways by the pandemic. They deserve great praise for their resilience in the face of these additional difficulties and they should all be very proud of what they have achieved.”
Alfreda, achieved an A* in Geography with A grades in Mathematics and Chemistry and an A* in her Extended Project and has secured a place at Cambridge University to read Geography.
Amelia and Tilly both achieved a double Distinction* and a Distinction in their Health and Social Care diplomas. Amelia is going to Leeds University to study Midwifery whilst Tilly is going to York St John University to study Primary Education.
Harry is off to study Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University having achieved 3 A* and 1 A grade – in Mathematics, Further Maths, Physics and Economics.
Hannah and Libby were celebrating their excellent results which have enabled them to move on respectively to Durham University to study Biological Sciences and to Liverpool University to study Medicine.
The Director of Sixth Form, Nicky-Jo Cooper, said: “There has been so much to celebrate today, including some students achieving beyond their expectations. I am incredibly proud of all the students. I want to thank them for being an excellent cohort and wish them all the very best for their future endeavours.”
