AN overnight power cut in the Malton and Norton area was due to a high voltage fault.
Households in the two towns and surrounding villages reported electricity cuts and power failures from yesterday evening (Tuesday).
A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said: “At 8.30pm on Tuesday 7 May we were made aware of a high voltage fault in Malton, which impacted customers for a short while.
“Our teams isolated the fault and subsequently located an underground cable fault. The majority of supplies were restored by 6am this morning (Wednesday 8 May).
“We thank customers for their patience if they were impacted by the power interruption. Customers can check the status of a power cut online at www.northernpowergrid.com/power-cuts-map which provides details of estimated restoration times, or they can call our free power cut number -105 - to report their power off.”
