A FAIRTRADE and local craft fair is being held this weekend.

The event is at the Friends Meeting house in Greengate, Malton, on Saturday, March 16, between 10am and 3pm.

Janice Gwilliam from Malton and Norton Fairtrade said: “ As well as Fairtrade crafts, chocolates and Easter eggs there will be a range of crafts from local crafts people, including pottery, textiles, wood carving, recycled items and patchwork. Fairtrade refreshments will be available and entry is free.

"We are a warm space, join us for an hour. Malton and Norton were first awarded Fairtrade Town status in 2008 and have successfully renewed that status every two years.

“Fairtrade is a simple way each one of us can make a difference through our everyday choices. It’s about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Fairtrade aims to enable the poorest farmers and workers to improve their position and have more control over their lives.”
