Barton-le-Street villagers put on their third pantomime ‘Snow White’ to a sell out audiences.

The panto was performed in the Village Hall over three nights.

Written and directed by Atty Dickson with a supporting cast and crew of over 20, all from the village, a night of fun and frivolity was enjoyed by friends and family from the village and beyond, all in aid of raising funds for the upkeep of the hall.

A spokespersons said: "A lot of hard work and effort had gone into creating the set by Bill and Janet Bishop, the costume design by Ann Wilson and props manager Alison Mottram.

"Who knew Snow White had Mother Goose as a character? A chance purchase at a theatrical costume sale earlier in the summer resulted in some script adaptations and Mother Goose was a big hit, especially with the children in the audience.

"Our Wicked Queen, Daphne Rose, was booed and hissed by all as she tried to plot Snow White’s downfall with the help of her not so wicked Huntsman, Chris Harvey.

"Chris made it a family affair with his children Finlay and Orla starring as the Woodland creatures ably assisting Snow White in her household tasks, especially following the dwarves rather messy breakfast – which got messier with each performance!

"Snow White, Hiliary Ramli, on her theatrical debut was a star, even writing her own song. Who knew Barton-le-Street had so much talent? A really great village show enjoyed by everyone."

The spokesperson said: "A big thank you went out to the Original Baker who very generously donated some of their delicious sausage rolls to enjoy after the performance each evening, and to everyone who supported the event raising over £1200. Can’t wait for the next one - Oh yes you can!"
