A special concert in aid of Acorn Community Care takes place on Friday.

The New York Brass Band will be performing at the Milton Rooms in Malton to raise funds for the charity that supports adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Ali Cashmore, Events and Fundraising Manager for Acorn Community Care, said: "The brilliant New York Brass Band is North Yorkshire’s only contemporary New Orleans inspired Brass Band and have played all over the world and at most of the big festivals including Glasotnbury for the last seven years.

"They have played for many famous people including Liam Gallagher, Ellie Goulding, Pixie Lott, Jamie Oliver and Danny from McFly who said “Forget Springsteen, you’re my new favourite band” The band is a powerhouse 7/8-piece, with a line-up of percussion, sax, trumpets, trombones, guitar and sousaphone, who hail from York.

"We also have Ryedale Stray Notes, a 25 piece band, packed full of talented young musicians who will open the show.

"It is going to be a fantastic night and one thing I can promise is, it is going to be loud! As always with our fundraising events, the proceeds go to Acorn Community Care."

The event opens at 7pm on Friday, November 24 at the Milton Rooms and tickets can be bought on www.acornevents.org.uk or at www.acorncommunity.care/our-shop
