Also in Scarborough, Orchard Lodge Wolds Restaurant only opened to diners in late April this year.

Before launching Wolds Restaurant, chef Michael Burgoyne worked closely with Andrew and Lucinda Jenkins, owners of Orchard Lodge, Flixton where Wolds is based, to create a vision for a modern British restaurant focusing on sustainable, local and seasonal slow food.

"Locally sourced food is important to me and has been for most of my career as a chef," shares Michael Burgoyne, previously head chef at The Whitehouse Restaurant in Lochaline.

"Being able to create a small menu with seasonal and sustainable produce is at the heart of everything we believe in at Wolds Restaurant.

"To be recognised with this Good Food Award so soon after launching is an achievement we are very proud of."

"This award is based on customer experience, something that is so important to both myself and Andrew and Lucinda," adds Burgoyne.

Elsewhere in the area, The Farrier at Cayton won the "highly reserved" Gold Seal accolade.

It currently has an impressive 5/5 rating on Tripadvisor out of 983 reviews.
