An educational operation was held in Norton on Tuesday centred around vulnerable road users.

Malton Police worked with North Yorkshire Council community team and Norton Town Council as part of the project.

A spokesperson for Malton Police, said: "On Tuesday afternoon we conducted an educational operation on Commercial street, Norton around vulnerable road users.

"Working with North Yorkshire Council Community Team and Norton Town Council we stopped and engaged with over 30 cyclists. A small percentage were educated regarding cycling laws and we handed out eight sets of lights and high-vis vests provided by the council to others.

"One driver was stopped and spoken to after we witnessed them close pass cyclists in an unsafe manner and one driver was dealt with for use of a mobile phone whilst driving.
