This week's photo of the week follows a request by readers to see old photos of Derwent Swimming Pool in Norton.
An open-air, unheated pool was built in Norton next to the railway line in 1901. It was covered, heating installed and re-opened in 1967 by Norton Urban District Council.
Apparently the water was changed just once a week in the early days so resembled 'soup' by Friday.
In later years hygiene improved with the dreaded 'verruca bath' and who can forget the coloured changing cubicles– which were open at the top and bottom - and surrounded the pool.
Do you remember swimming at Derwent Pool? We'd love to hear your memories and see any photos yu may have.
