English Heritage will once again be taking part in Heritage Open Days.
As part of the event, thousands of volunteers across the country get together to celebrate our heritage.
In Yorkshire, events will take place at Byland Abbey, near Coxwold and Easby Abbey, Richmond.
At Byland Abbey, a guided walk around will give visitors the opportunity to hear some surprising facts about how monks lived. Whilst at Easby Abbey, there’ll be a tour of the property with an emphasis on mystery, murder and scandal. There, our volunteer guide will be exploring the lives of monks, nuns and friars through the vivid imaginations of writers old and new, including Chaucer, Matthew Lewis and Ken Follett.
Tickets can be booked online by searching up English Heritage Byland Abbey or Easby Abbey.
