Top comedian Lost Voice Guy is coming to the Milton Rooms in Malton for a Comedy and Music evening to help to raise funds for local charity Acorn Community Care.

Lost Voice Guy (real name Lee Ridley) is a Britain’s Got Talent and BBC New Comedy Award winner. He was born with cerebral palsy and is unable to speak, but communicates with the audience through a tablet computer and really came to prominence in 2018 when he won the 12th series of TV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Lee said: “I’m really looking forward to performing at The Milton Rooms to help raise funds for Acorn Community Care. Being disabled myself, it is a charity that is very close to my heart and I know how important these types of organisations are. It is vital that they are allowed to keep supporting disabled people and help them get involved in the activities that matter to them most. After all, disabled people deserve to live as independently as possible.”

Acorn Community Care is based on an eight-acre farm in Norton providing care and support for people living with learning and physical disabilities through a wide range of activities on offer based at the farm.

They also enable people living with such challenges to enjoy independent lives within the community through a bespoke support package within their own homes delivered by a team of well-trained and dedicated support workers.

Ali Cashmore, Events & Marketing Manager at Acorn Community Care, said:" We are so thrilled that Lost Voice Guy, real name Lee Ridley, is supporting our charity by performing at our event. Everyone will know Lee from winning Britain's Got Talent but may not know about the work Lee does for charities like ours.

"The awareness generated and funds raised through this event will significantly contribute to our ongoing efforts to support vulnerable people in Ryedale.

"It is going to be a fantastic evening with music performed by Mojo Catfish who are coming from Leeds to support the event. They are a great bunch of musicians who have helped our charity enormously. They will have everyone up on the dancefloor, no doubt about it.

"We've also got comedian Liam Pickford to compare for us, he is a very funny guy. All the proceeds will be going to Acorn Community Care.

"We are a hardworking charity based on Scarborough Road in Norton and we provide support for vulnerable adults with physical and learning disabilities. The work we do is much needed and we plan to put on regular events like this to raise funds so that we can continue to help more people in our area.

The gig takes place on Friday, June 2 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £18 from www.themiltonrooms.com or go to ‘Events’ on www.acorncommunity.care or call Ali Cashmore, on 07813889085.
