Scores of Malton residents celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III with a street party.

The residents lined Cherry Avenue on Sunday, May 7, to celebrate the monarch being crowned.

They joined people across Ryedale who held events to celebrate the significant moment in history.

The Malton Mayor, Ian Conlan, opened the day and the White Star Brass Band, led by bandmaster Pat, also played.

Ages ranging from nine weeks to 90 years were present during the celebrations.

Organiser, Chris Hudson, 73, said that the planning of the party started in February with the main aims for the day being to “have a day to remember” and to “bring residents together”.

She marked the two aims as a success.

Before the Coronation, King Charles and Queen Camilla made a surprise visit to Malton and met some of the town's independent artisan food and drink producers, along with representatives from a variety of charities from across Ryedale.

The Royal couple were greeted by crowds of people as they arrived by car at the Talbot Food Yard.
