Norton Hive Library and Community Hub is holding a Charity Auction to raise funds to help with the running of the volunteer-led library.

The auction lots, which include items ranging from a string of pearls to a night at the theatre, will be available for viewing between 2 and 5pm on Saturday, April 1, with the auction itself starting at 7pm.

Auctioneer Henry Scott from Boulton Cooper will be overseeing the sales.

All are welcome and tickets are available in advance from the library at a cost of £1.

A spokesperson said: "Norton Hive Library is run by volunteers who passionately believe that a community library is an essential part of the infrastructure of our town.

"Alongside the books and computers provided by North Yorkshire County Council Library Services the Hive has various regular community activities such as Knit and Natter and Storytime, rooms that can be hired, a range of books for ‘sale’, as well as being a designated 'Warm Space'.

"Norton Hive is looking for more volunteers to help with the running of the library and would particularly welcome anyone who has the time and energy to commit to becoming a Trustee. Other volunteer opportunities available include Grant Fundraiser –researching suitable grant opportunities and completing applications; Craft Club Assistant - helping with regular craft club sessions for children one Saturday morning every four to six weeks; Code Club Leader – running a weekly code club for children aged nine to 13yrs old.
