A Fairtrade and local craft fair is being held this weekend.

The event will be held at the Friends' Meeting house in Greengate, Malton, on Saturday, March 4, 10am to 4pm.

Janice Gwilliam from Malton and Norton Fairtrade said: As well as Fairtrade crafts there will be a wide variety of local crafts and Rickshaw from The Shambles will be there too. Fairtrade chocolate and mini Easter eggs will also be on sale. Fairtrade refreshment all day, free entry. We are a warm space, please join us for an hour.

Malton & Norton were first awarded Fairtrade Town status in 2008 and have successfull renewed that status every two years.

Fairtrade is a simple way each one of us can make a difference through our everyday choices.  Its about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.  Fairtrade aims to enable the poorest farmers and workers to improve their position and have more control over their lives.
