Sherburn Playing Field Association has been given a grant of £2,000.
The money has been donated from the North Yorkshire County Council's locality budgets.
The Sherburn Playing Field Association decided two years ago that the village needed a new children’s play park to replace existing equipment.
The new play park will include a wide range of new equipment for all ages and will also have an accessible roundabout and nest swing. The play park will also be moved to a safer location for children.
A spokesperson for the Assocation said:"  We are so excited to announce we have very generously been granted £2000 towards our new playpark from North Yorkshire County Council locality budgets.
"A huge ‘Thank you’ from us all, and especially from our excited little fundraisers. This now takes our total to an outstanding £59,470. So close now to the £60,000 we need to make a start - we are almost, almost there."
