Why leave litter?

IN going for what is normally a three-mile circuit, I have collected one and three quarter bags full of discarded waste from the sides of the road and completed 4.9 miles in the process.

I put the first bag into a waste bin at Kirkham, as it was so full and getting so heavy that one of the tie handles was beginning to tear away.

In doing the return leg of my circular walk, it was less littered but still had numerous cans and bottles, several of them alcohol branded, and so I set up the attached image to show my disgust at how poorly some people are treating our local environment that is meant to be an Area of Outstanding Beauty.

All of these items are recyclable, so why can’t people take them home and dispose of them properly?

It’s also worrying to think about how many people could be drink-driving with these cans and bottles often deposited in or near passing places on the narrow roads.
