POLICE have advised parents to talk to their children following a spate of anti-social behaviour issues in a Ryedale.

North Yorkshire Police’s Neighbourhood Policing Team were yesterday (February 5) dealing with reports in Kirkbymoorside of stones being thrown at the properties of vulnerable residents and “knock a door run” incidents.

A force spokesperson added: “Sadly, this type of behaviour is becoming a widespread occurrence in Ryedale.

“It is perceived by some as ‘kids being kids’, but the reality is that this type of behaviour can be very unnerving for residents.

“We would like to appeal to parents to talk to your kids about where they are going and what they are doing and have a chat about what they may feel is a bit of fun, is disrupting, even ruining people’s lives.

“Would your kids like it if this happened to their family, their grandma or granddad?

“Feeling safe in your own home is something we all need, so please, have a chat with your kids.”
