FIREFIGHTERS were called to a chimney fire in a property in a village near Helmsley today (January 9).

A crew from Thirsk responded to the report at 4.02pm in Hawnby.

The fire was out on arrival.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crew carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera to check for any residual heat and gave advice.”
