ELIGIBLE residents in Malton and Norton are being urged to get their Covid booster vaccine before Christmas.
Derwent Pharmacy, Norton Road, is offering the vaccines, which are available to people 50 and over, frontline health and social care workers, pregnant women, paid or unpaid carers, and people with a weakened immune system or other high-risk groups.
Vaccine appointments can be booked via the NHS booking system online.
The pharmacy will also be offering walk in appointments in the coming weeks – more information about these appointments can be found by contacting the pharmacy on 01653 692380.
Derwent Pharmacy is open 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30am to 1pm on Saturdays.
These opening hours may differ on bank holidays.
Neil Beecham, owner of the pharmacy, said: “It is important for (people) themselves (to get the vaccine), but it also reduces the likeliness of them spreading it as well.”
Mr Beecham added that this is particularly important given the likeliness of people mixing with elderly relatives over the festive period.
