Property experts at GetAgent analysed global searches for houses for sale in locations across the UK and compared these with the number of properties currently available for sale on Rightmove.

They used this data to find the locations that are most in demand right now - and awarded them a 'lusted after score'.

Topping the list is Malton, at 78 per cent. 

The town was also the only English location to feature in the UK top ten locations. 

A spokesperson for GetAgent said: "The picturesque Yorkshire town is known as the food capital of the region and its quaint charm leaves it a highly desirable spot to move to."

Behind Malton on the list was Colchester, Essex, and Penrith, Cumbria, which were tied second at 72 per cent. 

The list also included Lyndhurst, Hampshire, Wombourne, Staffordshire, and Hexham, Northumberland.

Northern Ireland dominates the most in-demand locations in the UK with Newry, Lisburn and Belfast, all scoring highly.
