The Killerz claim to be the number one UK tribute band to legendary American rockers The Killers and are famed for being as exciting as the real thing, Tickets are just £15 for the gig on Saturday, October 8. Go to www.themiltonrooms.com to book.

The gig is one of a string of top events in October, including a special Taphouse Burnout night on Friday, October 14 featuring some of the area’s great artists – Gary Stewart, Lily Hope and Simon Snaize, Mooch and George Rowell.

The packed line-up of events includes a triple dose of New Americana on October 29, West End Nights presented by Be Amazing Arts on October 2 and The Stopouts supported by The Twisty Turns on October 22.

On to November and The Belgrave House Band perform Rumours by Fleetwood Mac on the 11th and a mention for Supersonic Queen on December 17th, the ideal festive gig.

Thursday, September 29: Ryedale Blues Club presents the Pat Fulgoni Blues Experience, a top notch, five-piece soul, rock, and blues band from Yorkshire, recently back in the UK after a string of gigs in Europe. Pat Fulgoni can also be found singing on many dance music tracks (often anonymously) especially in the soulful “liquid” drum and bass genre for festival headlining artists including London Elektricity, Technimatic and Camo & Krooked. The set includes original compositions alongside renditions of Ray Charles, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson and more. 8pm. Sunday, October 2: Be Amazing Arts presents West End Nights, a brand new show celebrating the finest and best loved songs from favourite musicals such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, The Greatest Showman, Come From Away, Waitress, Blood Brothers, Chicago and many more. 7.30pm. Saturday, October 8: The Killerz. They are one of only a few tribute acts to The Killers in the world. Performing around the UK and worldwide, the band continues to gather support from their audiences and more impressively The Killers supporters themselves, the Victims. The Killerz are being supported by Echo Bay. 8pm. Tickets £15.

Friday, October 14: Taphouse Burnout. An evening showcasing some of our local area’s great artists, including Gary Stewart, a Scottish singer/songwriter; Lily Hope, a newly-emerging vocalist from Pocklington with Simon Snaize, an accomplished singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer; Mooch, an acoustic duo playing an eclectic mix of songs and George Rowell, an outstanding singer-songwriter, guitarist and music producer now living in Ryedale. 7.30pm. Saturday, October 22: The Stopouts supported by The Twisty Turns. The Stopouts are a five-piece band with members hailing from Liverpool, Manchester and Ryedale, who are guaranteed to get you on your feet with their mix of Americana, rock and pop, led by Felicity on vocals. The Twisty Turns are a British country band who play original music influenced by the old sounds of country, folk, country blues and bluegrass. 7.30pm. Tickets £10.

Thursday, October 27: Eli and the Blues Prophets. Ryedale Blues Club welcomes the Blues/Rock band from Yorkshire who perform classic numbers by the likes of B B King, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and The Blues Brothers. 8pm. Tickets £10.

Friday, October 28: Hilarity Bites Comedy Club features Peter Brush and Duncan Oakley. Peter Brush is a highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, while Duncan Oakley performs an infectious mix of musical comedy and stand up with one of his trusty guitars by his side. 8pm. Tickets £10.

Saturday, October 29: New Americana featuring the Katy Hurt Band, The Loose Cut and Robbie Cavanagh. Strada Music represents some of the most established names in Folk, Roots, World, Jazz and Americana music. Now they are teaming up with The Milton Rooms to preview three of their most exciting acts on the one bill. 7.50pm. Tickets £15.

Wednesday, November 9: Pyramus & Thisbe Productions present Holmes & Watson: The Farewell Tour. Sherlock Holmes has persuaded his long-time companion Dr Watson, his landlady Mrs Hudson and Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard to join him in a farewell tour of the British Isles. For the first time, they will re-enact one of the detective’s most baffling unrecorded cases – The Case of the Prime Minister, the Floozie and the Lummock Rock Lighthouse – an affair upon whose outcome the security of Europe once hung by a thread. A production from Kirkbymoorside based Pyramus and Thisbe Productions. 8pm. Tickets £12.

Friday, November 11: The Belgrave House Band presents Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Representing the musical powerhouse of Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen in Leeds, The Belgrave House Band give their take on one of the most critically acclaimed, highest grossing and culturally significant albums of all time -Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. 8pm. Thursday, November 17: Alison Weir - Elizabeth of York: The Last White Rose. In association with Kemps Books, Alison Weir, the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Six Tudor Queens series, returns to The Milton Rooms to talk about her latest novel, the first in a captivating new trio of novels spanning three generations of history’s most iconic family, the Tudors. 7.30pm. Thursday, November 24: The Alex Fawcett Band. Alex Fawcett has fast become a popular and well respected member of the UK’s blues rock fraternity. He plays with a youthful style which echoes the guitarist of the past, mixed with a huge modern sound and feel. 8pm. Tickets £10.

Saturday, November 26: Moondogs. From the fantastic Rock ’n’ Roll sounds of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis to the musical explosion that defined the 1960s from artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, The Kinks and the Spencer Davis Group, The Moondogs will transport you back to those exciting times which helped to shape a generation. 7.30pm. Saturday, December 17: Supersonic Queen. Celebrate your Christmas with one of the UK’s top Queen tribute bands, Supersonic Queen.
