A PICKERING farm shop is seeking an apprentice to join their team.

Due to increased growth post-Covid, the butchery team at Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café are looking to take on an apprentice to help them prepare meat for their busy farm shop and café.

The apprentice will learn butchery skills from the experienced Cedarbarn team and also with day release study at college.

Cedarbarn co-founder, Karl Avison said: "Having farmed in the area for and run the Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café for almost 30 years, we know that the young people in the Pickering area are second to none and we're passionate about creating career opportunities for local people.

"Some members of our butchery team have been with us for over 14 years. This shows that butchery offers a secure, rewarding career with plenty of scope for promotion."

The successful applicant will join the 38-strong team at Cedarbarn and will study one day a week for a Butchery Apprentice and Level 2 Certificate in Meat and Poultry at Bishop Burton College, near Beverley.

The college provides transport from Pickering, Malton and Scarborough.
