EMERGENCY services were on the scene yesterday (August 10) at a tractor and baler on fire at Thornton-le-Dale.
Crews from Pickering, Malton and Sherburn responded to a report of a tractor and baler on fire in Thornton-le-Dale at 3.01pm.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “The fire spread to approximately 20m of roadside vegetation, trees and bushes and caused significant damage to the road surface.
“Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down hotspots and emptied the baler.”
As reported by the Gazette and Herald yesterday, part of the A169 was closed during the fire and drivers were advised to avoid the High Marishes Road from the A169.
