A FOOTBALL club from North Yorkshire have raised over £2,000 at their annual event.

Heslerton Junior Football Club (JFC) raised £2,265 at a Family Fun Day, with £500 given to Yorkshire Air Ambulance on July 31.

The event was held on the sports field in Heslerton, and activities included fun fair attractions such as bottle ring games, retro sweet stalls, tractors, and even the chance to ‘dunk’ some of the coaches into pools of water.

The club also held a mini U7s football tournament along side the event with teams coming from the surrounding area and as far as Tickton, near Beverley.

Katie Watson, welfare officer at Heslerton JFC, said that rain did not dampen spirits on the day, with many still attending despite the poor weather.

She explained that stall holders quickly assembled gazebos and got started with a day of fun.

Despite less footfall than the previous year, Katie said that the event was “very successful.”

Heslerton JFC have football teams for children aged from three to 16.

There are mixed teams, along with girls and boys set teams.

Heslerton JFC are now looking for new players in the U16s, U14s, U9s, U8s and the girls U12s.

Katie said: “If you are interested in joining a friendly, fun, award winning club, please contact us on our Facebook page, Heslerton Junior Football Club.”
