EMERGENCY services were called to a fire in the open today (July 20) near Scarborough.
Firefighters from Scarborough were called to a fire to a pile of manure in Harwood Dale at 12pm.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews extinguished this using a hose reel jet and small tools.”
As reported by the Gazette and Herald, this news comes after the service received over 170 calls yesterday as a major incident was declared following a surge in fires across North Yorkshire, as the county battled a heatwave.
