FIREFIGHTERS were on the scene at a barn fire yesterday (July 19) near Ripon.
Crews from Tadcaster, Grassington, Easingwold and Thirsk were called to a barn fire in Middleton Quernhow at 4.41pm.
The fire measured 50 metres by 50 metres and affected the barn, a workshop, a seed drill and baler.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, thermal imaging camera, ceiling hooks, small tools, extinguishers, and a water bowser to extinguish the fire.”
A major incident was declared yesterday as fire crews battled fires across the county after a surge in calls due to the extreme weather conditions.
