A POPULAR Malton Music festival has announced an extended license for this year event.

Meadowfest is an all-day family friendly boutique music festival and will be held in the meadow between the River Derwent and the Talbot Hotel on Saturday July 30 from 10am-10pm.

Event organisers, Visit Malton CIC, say that an extended license has been approved for the event, which is said to be its biggest yet with more food and drink vendors added to the day's line up.

The festival faced criticism last year over long waits for food and drinks from vendors.

A range of acts will perform this year across two stages, including The Feeling who will headline the festival’s Main Stage.

Further performances will come from party band HUGE!, the New York Brass Band, Flatcap Carnival and more.

Fame Academy’s Alistair Griffin will also be performing, following an appearance with his Lemoncurd Gin at Maltons Food Lovers Festival in June.

On the day, event goers will be able to enjoy the offerings of two Yorkshire Bus Bars, as well as the Bus Stop Bar, and The Talbot’s Pop-Up Bar.

The Malton Brewery Bar will also be serving their famous Yorkshire Puddings’ Beer to provide gig-goers with a real taste of Yorkshire.

Food will be on offer from vendors including pizza, cheese toasties, Indian dishes, barbecue pulled pork, as well as vegan and vegetarian options.

For the first time, attendees can also bring their own picnics and soft drinks to the festival.

Mark Brayshaw, head of Visit Malton, said: “Last year some Meadowfest patrons spent a longer time queuing for drinks than we would have liked, which led to feedback asking us for more bar vendors.

“We have made it our mission to action this feedback and are very thankful to Ryedale District Council licensing team for their assistance in bringing about the necessary changes to the licence, to ensure we can significantly improve the refreshments services at the event.

“As always, our event will be run with the help of an expert team of stewards to ensure a safe and smooth-running event for everyone to enjoy.

“We now only have a few weeks until Meadowfest returns, and a limited number of discounted tickets are available online to purchase ahead of the event.

“Make sure you book in and don’t miss our much-loved feelgood music festival!”

Ticket holders can come and go all day long to explore the wonders that Yorkshire’s Food Capital has to offer in between sets.

Tickets are still available for the event, and parking for the event is included within the price of tickets
