The summer and autumn programme at the rejuvenated Milton Rooms in Malton is continuing to grow, with a range of performances and events to appeal to just about everyone.

In addition, the venue is growing as a community hub, with everything from dance and yoga classes to a fortnightly tea and coffee events to welcome Ukrainians now living in the area.

Plans are also afoot to host a fun Yorkshire Day celebration on Sunday, July 31 from 11.30am to 2.30pm. Keep an eye open for details to be announced soon.

Events coming up begin with Redfish at Ryedale Blues Club tomorrow, June, 30, then looking into July there is, in conjunction with Kemps Books, Walking in the Brontes’ footsteps with Michael Stewart on July 8 and on July 16 a not-to-be-missed Strictly Summer Spectacular. Jimmy Regal and The Royals appear at the Blues Club on July 28 and the Hilarity Bites Comedy Club on July 29 features Steph Laing and Sam Avery.

There are a number of Ryedale Festival events taking place in the Milton Rooms in July, including Late Night Folk, 100 Years of Jazz in 99 Minutes and Come and Sing Abba! For more information go to www.ryedalefestival.com

A quick look into the autumn reveals Scottish traditional band The Tannahill Weavers, on September 3, Jazz guitarist Edison Herbert on September 10 and The Sounds of Simon on September 24, a tribute to the music of Simon and Garfunkel, through their years together and also their solo careers. To top off the month Rhythm and Blues quartet Consummate Rogues are appearing at Ryedale Blues Club.

The Killerz are appearing on October 8. The Killerz are one of only a few tribute acts to The Killers in the world. The music, the look, and the energy the band create make audiences feel they are watching the real thing.

The Belgrave House Band’s Rumours Fleetwood Mac show is on November 11. They reimagine classic albums with a very satisfying attention to detail and a bouncing energy that makes for a unique take on the past, while delivering an exciting performance very much set in the present.

And Moondogs are booked for November 26, an energetic, vibrant three-piece cover band who superbly recreate the sights, sounds and raw energy of the 1950s and 1960s.

Thursday, June 30: Ryedale Blues Club present Redfish, a blistering UK-based band who started a new chapter in 2021, headed by the talented and highly-acclaimed singer/guitarist Christian Sharpe. .8pm. Tickets £10.

Friday, July 8: Walking the Invisible – Following in the Brontes’ Footsteps. Author Michael Stewart tells of his journey walking the historic paths the sisters trod from Liverpool to Scarborough while writing their most famous works. 7.30pm. Saturday, July 16: Strictly Summer Spectacular. Dancing to the live sounds of Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra, plus exhibition dances from top amateur ballroom competition stars Adam and Trish Cawood. 7.30pm. Tickets £22.50.

Thursday, July 28: Jimmy Regal and The Royals at Ryedale Blues Club. A blues three-piece straight out of South London, Jimmy Regal and The Royals have played with some of the greats of the UK and international blues scenes including Cedric Burnside, Walter Trout, and Big Joe Louis. 8pm. Tickets £10.

Friday, July 29: Hilarity Bites Comedy Club featuring Steph Laing and Sam Avery. Steph Laing’s comedy is partway between the needy oddness of Maria Bamford and the upbeat affability of Josie Long. Her material is a mix of silliness, filth and unusual observations, underpinned by a disarming honesty which makes her seem charmingly vulnerable. Friendly and enthusiastic, Sam Avery’s observational style puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life. Sam has gained a reputation for being able to spark the dullest of rooms into life with his warm, infectious humour and quick wit. 8pm. Tickets £10.

Saturday, September 3: The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland’s premier traditional bands. Their diverse repertoire spans the centuries, with fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, and original ballads and lullabies. From reflective ballads to footstomping reels and jigs, the variety and range of the material they perform is matched only by their enthusiasm and lively Celtic spirits. 8pm. Tickets £15.

Saturday, September 10: Edison Herbert Quartet ‘Time for Love’. Edison Herbert is a melodic jazz musician who plays guitar from the heart, in the style of Wes Montgomery and praised by legend George Benson. Born in Leeds, he played classical piano as a boy, studying at The Yorkshire College of Music. But his passion for guitar resulted in a scholarship to further his studies at The Guildhall School Of Music and Drama. After being heard there, he was asked to join the Jazz Warriors. Edison wrote arrangements for the Olivier Award-nominated West End musical ‘Unforgettable’ and was musical director on the show’s international tours. He also composed music for the BBC Radio 4 drama “Spell Number Seven”. 8pm. Tickets £15.

Saturday, September 17: A welcome return for Five Divide, the North East’s premier Sixties tribute band, as they celebrate their 30th anniversary in the business. 7.30pm. Tickets £10.

Saturday, September 24: After last year’s gig was cancelled because of Covid, the Sounds of Simon are back. The Sounds of Simon is a tribute to the music of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel through their years together and also their solo careers. 8pm. Tickets £14.

Thursday, September 29: Ryedale Blues Club present Consummate Rogues, a British rhythm and blues quartet made up of top session musicians from across North London. With influences deeply rooted in the Blues, Country, Americana and New Orleans, this music is inspired by legends such as The Allman Brothers, The Blues Breakers and The Band. 8pm. Tickets £10.

October

Saturday, October 8: The Killerz. They are one of only a few tribute acts to The Killers in the world. Performing around the UK and worldwide, the band continues to gather support from their audiences and more impressively The Killers supporters themselves, the Victims. The Killerz are being supported by Echo Bay. 8pm. Tickets £15.

• Office administration and ticket sales

• Event management (front of house/bar)

• Tech support (sound and light)

• Marketing and promotion, for example newsletter/design, print and distribution/website and social media content.

• Venue maintenance and DIY.
