THE fourth Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon took place at Birdsall Estate.

The event gives riders the chance to experience routes usually not accessible to the public.

They take in natural terrain, including single track and forest descents.

Organised in collaboration between Northern Ride & Birdsall Estates, The Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon is a traditional challenge mountain bike event that takes place around the private, normally un-accessible 12,000-acre Birdsall Estate.

This year’s event took place on Sunday, June 12.

A spokesperson for the event said: The Yorkshire Mountain Bike Marathon is inclusive and suitable for a variety of different abilities, with contestants this year ranging from nine years of age through to 70-plus.

"We had over 550 entrants with differing abilities - from Elite riders to aspiring juniors, there was something for everybody, with 25, 40, 65 & 80km routes available.2
