The wife of a popular comedian will raise funds for a village church.

Anne Dodd, wife of national treasure Sir Ken Dodd, will give a talk about her life with the comedian to raise money for All Saints Burythorpe Repair Fund.

The event, which will take place at Birdsall House on Tuesday, July 5, will be an evening of stories, anecdotes and laughter recounting Anne’s life with one of the country’s best-loved comedians.

Lady Cara, of Birdsall House, said: “It is an absolute pleasure to finally be hosting this event when discussions started just before the pandemic hit. This is a chance to hear about an extraordinary life in beautiful, historic surroundings, all while raising money for a local cause.”

Anne Dodd met Sir Ken in 1978 and they were together for 40 years, marrying just two days before his death in 2018.

‘My life with Sir Ken Dodd’ will begin at 6.45pm with a Prosecco reception in the gardens. Tickets, including reception drink, cost £15. To book email cara@birdsallhouse.com or call 07976 939564. All money raised from ticket sales will be donated to Burythorpe Church.
