A special place for pupils to sit and reflect has been created at St Mary's RC School in Malton.

The school worked with Matthew Bowman from Bowmanscapes to design a prayer garden for all the children to enjoy. Local businesses supplied the free materials for the project including MKM, who gave stone chippings, timber from Howarth timber, Quarry Farm Ebberston, York Stone, along with the free labour from Bowmanscapes, while parent Louise Watkins, donated an apple tree

Lisa Duffield, Head of School, said: "Matthew came in his own time, to create our wonderful garden where children can sit and pray or reflect.

"We feel this garden has given our pupils a quiet place to reflect and pray. We now see children spending time talking and having some quiet time together. The garden is amazing and it couldn't have been accomplished without Matthew and the generosity of local supplies in Malton. The children, parents and staff are incredibly grateful for everyone involved."
