A COUNTY and district councillor has resigned from the Conservative Party over the 'lack of integrity and competence displayed by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson'.
Councillor Caroline Goodrick said she has also left the Conservative groups on North Yorkshire County Council and Ryedale District Council.
She said: "I can no longer condone through silence the lack of integrity and competence displayed by Boris Johnson. The Conservative government as a whole doesn’t seem to know what it is there for.
"Accordingly I am today resigning from the Conservative Party and the Conservative groups on North Yorkshire County (NYCC) and Ryedale District Councils.
"I have not been selected to stand in the May County elections so I am not letting anyone down. I will continue to support sensible policies regardless of which party they come from."
Cllr Goodrick represents Hovingham and Sheriff Hutton division on NYCC and Barton le Willows, Buttercrambe with Bossall, Claxton, Crambe, Foston, Gate Helmsley, Harton, Sand Hutton, Upper Helmsley, Warthill and Whitwell on the Hill on the district council.
