Thornton le Dale Women’s Institute (WI) recently donated a pear tree to a local primary school.
The WI visited the Thornton Dale Church of England primary school in December as part of The Big Green Week, which was celebrated in September last year.
The first event marked how communities are tackling climate change and protecting green spaces.
The WI donated a pear tree in aid of this cause in conjunction with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee initiative – Plant a Tree.
The Plant a Tree initiative was developed by the Queen’s Green Canopy in honour of Her Majesty’s 70 years of service.
The jubilee celebrations take place in June this year.
