Ryedale District Council has launched a campaign to help citizens and visitors enjoy Ryedale festivities with a focus on staying safe, shopping local and going green. This week the spotlight in on businesses in Helmsley that are full of festive cheer and COVID-19 safety measures.

Libby Butler Jewellers

Gazette & Herald:

We are really looking forward to welcoming customers to the shop this Christmas, jewellery and watches are such a popular gift at our busiest time of year. We encourage just one family group at a time into the shop, which also helps us provide a personal and individual service as well as keeping distancing, so that all customers feel safe. I wear a visor, and we have a touchless hand sanitiser station available just through the door, which is always open for fresh air and ventilation.

We are doing all we can to stop the spread of COVID in the community while customers enjoy choosing their special gifts from us. We source from other small independent businesses like our own, and some larger British brands like Storm London for watches, and all of our items are chosen personally with the customer in mind so we have a range to suit all budgets and taste, and everything comes in lovely paper gift bags so we save you the task of wrapping, and keep it eco-friendly too.

Helmsley is such a special place all year round, but especially at Christmas, with the twinkling lights, the wonderful choice and variety of small shops and plenty of coffee stop offs to spend the whole day here, for a safe and relaxed shopping experience and a friendly welcome to all. At Libby Butler Jewellers we also offer out of hours appointments if needed, and free delivery, so as a small business, we offer the flexibility to make Christmas shopping for really high quality and individual gifts both convenient and safe, and a lovely festive experience.

Homeworks

Gazette & Herald:

We were established in April 1987 and are an independent hardware shop, with over 8000 lines in "normal times". Selling items as small as screws and as large as step ladders, we pride ourselves on personal service and advice. We have kept trading all the way through the pandemic, serving customers from a "doorstep counter" to keep customers and staff safe. Having now reopened fully, we have hand sanitiser at the entrance, all staff wear face visors and we prefer customers to wear face coverings while inside the shop.

We try to encourage people to shop local and keep our fabulous small businesses in Helmsley going. Visit us this Christmas for a happy and cheery atmosphere, lights, decorated windows and a large range of Christmas stock.

In the Market Place, Hunters of Helmsley have provided continuous support and smiling faces throughout the last two years of COVID restrictions. We go above and beyond and offered local delivery to vulnerable/ shielding people. We are working to keep everyone safe – our staff continuously wear masks and encourage customers to do the same, especially since it’s a small shop. We sanitise all surfaces and there’s a sanitiser for customers by the front door. COVID screens are up around till areas and we’re still encouraging social distancing.

You can expect a fantastic range of Christmas goodies for everyone in store. There are wonderful hampers for collection and delivery as well as window displays. Staff usually wear Xmas jumpers in December too! Visit our website for more info www.huntersofhelmsley.com

We are friendly and cheerful all year round. The signs up in our shop show all the COVID safety measures in place such as social distancing and limited numbers allowed in.
