A choral revival is underway at Old Malton Priory church.

The development of a choir of choral scholars is the first phase of the redevelopment.

The director of music at the Priory, Phillip Sangwine, said: "The development of our choir of choral scholars is the first phase of the redevelopment of the choral tradition of the church.

"More developments will take place shortly with the planned reintroduction of choristers to the church after many years absence and further recruitment of adult singers."

Members of the choir sang at the Remembrance Sunday service of Choral Mattins at Old Malton.

Philip said: "Come and hear the choir at our special service of Advent by Candlelight on Sunday, December 5 at 6.30 pm.

"A service of readings, hymns and choral music to commemorate the start of December. Light refreshments will follow and all are welcome."
