Mandy Avison, who runs Cedarbarn with her husband, Karl, said: “We are incredibly thrilled to have been shortlisted for these awards and honoured to have been nominated for a Yorkshire Food Hero award and in such fine company.

Mandy added: "Although it is our names which appear on the Yorkshire Heroes shortlist, this is actually for the amazing Cedarbarn Team as a whole, for their hard work and dedication over lockdown, and really digging deep in what has been a very unusual and challenging summer, they have done a fantastic job in difficult circumstances and we are so proud of them."

The Deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards, which are one the biggest food and drink accolades in the North of England, attracted hundreds of entries from businesses across the county.

Judging the entries this year were a panel of industry experts including chefs, broadcasters, writers and buyers all led by head judge Nigel Barden who was joined by chef Steph Moon, and a host of other enthusiastic foodies who carefully worked their way through over 450 entries across a range of categories from Best Pork Pie to Best Use of Local Produce on a Menu.

Nigel said: “Each year without fail we turn up something exciting that we haven’t seen before and something that blows our socks off and it’s a testament to the resilience and passion of the industry here in Yorkshire that even after the last 18 months, our food and drink producers are still innovating, collaborating and thriving.”

This year’s winners will be announced at an event at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday, November10.
